You are going to start by pressing this link
Note: This was done on a mac so if you use a PC your process may be slightly different. Also I have Add-ons on my Anki so it may look different than yours.
Scroll to the bottom and hit the correct link for your computer
Follow the rest of the download instructions and open anki
Once you’ve opened Anki, find your preferences and select that
Use the following settings pictured below
Once you’ve done this, download the AnKing deck per the link below
How to download AnKing
Here is a reddit post for the download of the official legal download of the AnKing deck.
The top comment of this reddit post has the anking deck with copyrighted content. These links have been reported to be safe and are used frequently. However, the authors of M1goto do not condone the illegal use of copyrighted content.
Congrats! Now that you have the AnKing deck it’s time to make some changes
Hover over the gear icon pictured below and select options as pictured
If you don’t want to think too hard about it, just use my settings (they work well I promise)
Very important!!!: When you turn on FSRS, DO NOT EDIT THE BOX LABELED FSRS PARAMETERS!!!!
Ignore the add-ons/exam notifier thing. You shouldn’t have that on yours yet
Make sure to hit save when you’re done
Now that your settings are right, you have a few more things to do.
Select the browse button up top in the middle
Here you can see the decks and tags and everything on the side.
Find the AnKing deck and click on it. It should show you something like this now.
Click on one of the cards and press command A on your keyboard (ctrl A for PC) to select all the cards in the AnKing deck
It will look like this meaning you have selected all of them. Now hit command J on your keyboard (ctrl J for PC)
Now that you’ve hit command J, you’ve suspended all the cards. This means Anki won’t try to make you do all of them, which is good because there are 30,000 or so and you need to be strategic about which ones you do.
Congrats! You now have Anki and the AnKing deck ready to use.
