Board Review Series

General

Board Review Series (BRS) is a textbook that can have great information that is provided in a concise manner, but the main draw of these text books is the practice questions at the end of each chapter. They are very representative of step style questions. These questions can be a very helpful way to gauge your level of knowledge for the block. Practice questions can absolutely be used as a learning tool. Expect to be challenged and learn new information doing these questions. However, these are questions that are meant to test your knowledge and help you find gaps. It might be more beneficial to prioritize doing practice questions until later in the block (maybe last half). To use BRS practice questions, pick out some chapters that you think are high yield and do those questions.

Block 2

In block 2 the BRS textbook is very helpful. The BRS textbook for physiology is written by Dr. Linda Costanzo, the author of the recommended textbook for this block, so the crossover is great and the practice questions are very high quality. We recommend using the BRS textbook in conjunction with the Costanzo Physiology textbook to study in block 2.
